FISKER has filed a patent for solid-stat batteries which is said to offer 500 miles of range and rapid one minute charging which could make Electric vehicles an incredible replacement to petrol and diesel cars.
The company is aiming mass production of these lithium ion based solid-state batteries by 2023 and cars with these batteries are expected to hit the road by 2024. The express notes that time duration is so high because of complicated nature of developing them to market which would require new staff, processes and infrastructure to be able to mass manufacturer them.
There are number of advantages of sold-state batteries over current lithium-ion batteries used in modern day phones, laptops etc. Firstly they have greater energy density; therefore they can offer more power, and rapid charging times.

Fisker claimed the energy density of the batteries they are creating have 2.5 times the density of current batteries on the market and can be recharged in one minute.
Another benefit would be that they perform better in colder weather. While these mighty solid-state batteries are still a number of years away the car manufacturer’s E Motion electric car will be launched at CES 2018 in January.
Fisker has claimed that the EMotion electric car has 400 miles of range and 125 miles of this can be recharged in around nine minutes.
It will cost $129,000, will look to take on the Tesla Model S and will go into production in 2019.
Fisker is not the only company opting for solid-state batteries as it is rumoured that Toyota and Dyson are developing electric cars using these batteries.
