Chief Minister of Goa, Manohar Parrikar on Tuesday held a meeting state power department and Goa Energy Development Agency (GEDA) officials over the implementation of a solar policy.
ET reports that since Parrikar took over the portfolio was instrumental in getting solar policy notified. He even suggested amendments in the solar policy and asked to draft PPA that has to be signed power department and consumers for grid-connected solar power.
The state government is looking to lower the tariff that the power department would pay to consumers generating solar power. An official speaking to the publication said “As the department would have to pay a huge money in case of gross metering, it is trying to lower the tariff. Otherwise, it would be burdened to pay out large sums to the consumers.”
The state government is also putting in single-window clearance system to encourage more rooftop solar plants and the entire process is being taken online.
