State-owned SJVNL on Wednesday said it has bagged two hydropower units — 138-MW Bardang and 210-MW Purthi projects — from the Himachal Pradesh government.
“Himachal Pradesh has vide its letter dated August 9, 2019, decided to allot Bardang HEP (138 MW) and Purthi HEP (210 MW) projects to SJVN Ltd in the state of Himachal Pradesh on BOOT (build, own, operate and transfer) basis,” a statement by SJVNL said.
The Purthi power project was a state project for which a concession agreement was signed on June 1, 2011, with Shangling Hydro Power Pvt Ltd at an estimated cost of Rs 2,100 crore. Earlier, 300 MW of power generation capacity was envisaged by the state. The project was located in the Kinnaur district.
The Bardang project was located in the Lahaul & Spiti district. The state government had inked concession agreement with ABG Energy Himachal Pradesh Ltd on March 16, 2011, at an estimated cost of 882 crore. Originally, 126 MW power generation capacity was envisaged by the state.
