- Tesla finally enters India via Bengaluru, CEO Elon Musk confirms.
The rumor mill around Tesla’s entry to Indian EV market finally comes to rest, as the US electric car giant has registered as a company in Karnataka’s Bengaluru. The CEO of the company Elon Musk has also confirmed days after the electric car maker set up a local subsidiary and R&D unit in Bengaluru. Musk tweeted “As promised,” in response to a thread linked to a blog that analysed how India could still be a market to be developed for Tesla cars despite its high prices.
- Tata Motors welcomes Tesla and Tata JV in Bollywood style, deletes it later.
Tata Motors Electric Mobility via its Twitter handle put out a tweet: “Aajkal tere mere pyaar ke charche hain akhbaar mein, Sab ko malum hai aur sabko khabar ho gayi!”. It tagged Tesla and Elon Musk in the tweet and used the hashtags WelcomeTesla and TeslaInIndia. However, the tweet was deleted by the company a couple of hours later. However Tata Motors Electric Mobility has denied rumours about a partnership. It is worth nothing that Tata Motors EV twitter account is not verified but is followed by Tata Motors.
- MG Motors India to launch sub 20 lakh electric cars in India says a report
MG Motor India-President and Managing Director-Rajeev Chaba speaking to an online publication has confirmed that the company is considering to launch sub-20 lakh electric car by the end of 2022. The company has started working on battery assembly facility in India to introduce affordable electric vehicles in the Indian market. MG Motor’s sub 20 lakh electric car when launched will compete against the likes of Tata Nexon.
- Kia Motors is now Kia,
Kia Motors will now be known only as Kia, changes its corporate name, logo and slogan as it plans to make big moves in the world of automobiles. The company has also announced to launch seven new electric vehicles globally by 2027. Kia’s first new-gen electric vehicle will arrive in the first quarter of 2021.
- Renault announces strategy for the next five years and beyond, to launch 14 EVs by 2025
Renault has announced its strategy for the next five years and beyond. The French carmaker will introduce 14 new models of electric vehicles by 2025, seven of which are fully electric. There will be an electric or hybrid version of all innovations. The iconic Renault 5 Prototype is an example of the new direction.
- Sony test its Vision S electric vehicle on road
Sony has started testing its electric vehicle Vision-S has on roads, the Japanese tech giant announced at an event. The firm said that the testing of the prototype vehicle began last month in Austria and now it looks to improve its safety.
The electric vehicle from the house of Japanese tech giant has reached ‘the next stage’ and Sony plans on carrying out tests in other regions as well. Sony Vision-S is a four-seater car, is powered by two 200 kilowatt motors — located at its front and rear.
- Hyundai IONIQ 5 teased , will be company’s first in EV-dedicated IONIQ lineup.
Hyundai has teased its upcoming all-electric IONIQ 5 with a teaser. It will be the first next gen battery-powered electric vehicle under the company’s IONIQ lineup. The IONIQ 5 is based on the Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), Hyundai’s new platform specifically designed for the IONIQ EV range.
- BMW to double its sales of fully-electric vehicles this year
BMW has announced that it aims to double its sales of fully-electric vehicles this year as the German carmaker and rivals race to release new models to comply with CO2 emissions targets and chase market leader Tesla Inc. BMW also said that including plug-in hybrids, it aims for a 50% increase in sales of electrified vehicles versus 2020.
- Earth Energy EV to launch range of Made in India Electric Vehicles on 26th January 16, 2021
Earth Energy EV has sent out an invite for the launch of range of Made in India Electric Vehicles on 26th January, 2021. The company in the invitation notes- “Join us on 26th Of January 2021 as we take you on a ride filled with our Design Journey, Vehicle Unveilings and Exciting Test-Rides.” The invitation hints at the launch of three electric bikes.
- Alibaba partners with SAIC to launch electric car
Chinese e-commerce group Alibaba under a new brand formed in partnership with SAIC Motor has unveiled an electric sedan with wireless charging. The EV was unveiled under the joint venture brand IM- ‘intelligence in motion’.
