“ChargeGrid Flare” street lamp integrated charger, a unique initiative by HPCL and Magenta, inaugrated at HPCL Bandra Kurla Complex outlet in Mumbai and Nitimarg T&E outlet in Delhi .
The facility was inaugurated by Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited along with Magenta today.
This class of EV charging points is first in India, to incorporate within energy-efficient street lamp columns, which will encourage EV adoption for flexible and low-cost charging solutions.
The ChargeGrid Flare is a smartly built, inclusive of power saving efficient LED lamp, robust street light pole & Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment made for Indian climatic conditions enabling online and remote monitoring of the chargers. It has automated payment gateway through the ChargeGrid App, thereby eliminating the need of having a station marshal to monitor, maintain & operate the chargers at the location.
The new EV charger is an ideal solution for installation into both new and existing car parking, street/corporate parking environments and at retail outlets.
This technology will enable cities to deploy curbside vehicle charging infrastructure rapidly, and less street clutter than other approaches. Designed exclusively to offer an energy-efficient streetlight combined with an EV charging point, it is a one-of-a-kind product, which offers integrated EV charging facilities from within a durable, traditional-looking, streetlight.
Maxson Lewis, MD of Magenta said, “We are happy to announce the installation of our first ChargeGrid Flare product at HPCL fuel stations at Mumbai and Delhi. The product was supposed to roll out in April 2020, along with multiple pilot projects to be commencing immediately post the launch. However, due to the Covid-19 impact we decided to delay the installations and now we are happy that 2021 starts off on a high note with this first installation now at the HPCL centers. We aim at deploying 1000 ChargeGrid Flare across pan India in this year and are in touch with OEM’s and Fuel Stations for the same. We look forward to work rigorously in 2021 and make up for the year gone by.”
Rajnish Mehta, Executive Director – Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd said “We are proud of our startup Magenta Power to design this unique charger solution tailor made for Indian cities. As India moves towards the adoption of sustainable practices, we will continue to provide support to Magenta to develop the best sustainable energy solutions and look forward to quickly add more cities to this exciting transformation.”
Magenta aims at installing more 1000 ChargeGrid Flare pan India by the end of 2021. Recently they announced the launch of New Business Associate Program to set-Up Low Cost EV Charging Stations in India.
