Globally, energy storage is coming into prominence for its ability to support more renewables into the grid, enabling the transition to e-mobility, and for its use in medical, telecom, and other key sectors. With the emergence of energy storage at the forefront of industry developments, September 22 each year is commemorated as the World Energy Storage Day (www.energystorageday.org). The World Energy Storage Day (WESD) is a movement started in 2017 to acknowledge the significance of energy storage in achieving the goal of a greener grid and cleaner transportation around the globe. It is observed and commemorated by various industry stakeholders, policymakers, think tanks, and associations.
For the upcoming 5th World Energy Storage Day, Customized Energy Solutions (CES) jointly with India Energy Storage Alliance (IESA) will be organizing Global Conference & Expo to foster a global ecosystem for the promotion of energy storage and emerging technologies. The 24-hour marathon event will be held virtually on September 22, 2021, covering four global regions (encompassing Asia, Europe, Africa, Middle East, Australia, North & South America) with virtual sessions on stationary energy storage, e-mobility, and charging infrastructure, and green hydrogen. The sessions will host expert panelists who will deliberate on the policy landscape, investment scenario, research and development, and the latest innovations taking in the field. The virtual event is expected to attract global participation from over 100 countries with an intent to facilitate bilateral trade, market development, and new research and innovation, which will invite participation from regulators, policymakers, and international speakers.
The highlight of this year’s WESD includes Country Roundtable, Technology Workshop, Partner Seminars, Virtual Tour, Global Start-up Program, Product Launch, Networking Lounge, Virtual Expo, and a media corner. Parallel workshops will be running on Start-Up supported by New Energy Nexus and Student Energy, Energy Storage Financing, EV Infrastructure, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Energy Access supported by Alliance for Rural Electrification and Power for All, Green Hydrogen, Project Modeling supported by CES, Long-Duration Energy Storage, Battery Recycling supported by The World Bank, Battery in Daily Life, and Safety & Standards supported by Underwriters Laboratories. Women in Energy Forum by IESA and Clean Tech business Forum by Clean Tech Business Club will also take place during the event.
A global Info- artist competition will be held for students wherein the infographics design needs to be submitted on energy storage, e-mobility & green hydrogen topics. The winners will be entitled to attractive prizes such as cash prizes, VIP passes to WESD event invite, 1-year student membership, internship opportunities, and more. The contest opens on 15th Aug. ‘21 and ends on 17th Aug. ‘21. Similarly, a Global Photograph Competition opens from 10th Aug. ‘21 and ends on 10th Sept. ‘21, an opportunity for the corporates and individuals to showcase the best images from around the world on the topic of Energy Storage, supply chain, e-mobility, EV infrastructure & green hydrogen and others. The winning photographs will be selected by a panel of experts and will be displayed at the WESD event on 22nd September 2021. It will also feature in the annual calendar of 2022.
To encourage Startups and innovations across the globe, WESD brings you the “Global Start-up Showcase Program” with the sector focus on Smart Energy, Energy Storage, Electric mobility, Energy Access, Green hydrogen, and IoT. The top 10 start-ups will get a free virtual booth to exhibit their technology/product at the WESD event on September 22, 2021. Investors get the opportunity to make suitable investments in potential start-ups while the mentors get an opportunity to participate in mentoring and evaluation of global emerging start-ups from the energy storage, EV, and green hydrogen eco-system.
